Suspect is named:

Several outlets including UK newspaper The Daily Mail and Norweigan broadcaster TV 2 have reported that 32 year old Norweignan Andres Behring Breivik has been arrested in connection with the attacks in the country today: the bombing in Oslo and the shooting on the island of Utoya.

 

Breivik, a native of Oslo, is described as as 6 feet tall and blond, which matches earlier reports from eyewitnesses on Utoya of a man dressed as a police officer who called teenagers over before shooting them with an automatic weapon.

2 Blasts have gone off in Oslo.  It seems that is is a terrorist attack against the Government for charging a radical cleric.

The indictment, obtained by The Associated Press on Tuesday, centers on statements that Mullah Krekar — the founder of the Kurdish Islamist group Ansar al-Islam — made to various media, including American network NBC…

 

Heard from twitter chatter that Fox was talking to a Norewegian reporter who believes that it was car bombs.

This was posted by Abu Sulayman al-Nasir to the Arabic jihadi forum, Shmukh, around 10:30am EST (thread 118187).  Shmukh is the main forum for Arabic-speaking jihadis who support al-Qaeda.  Since the thread is now inaccessible (either locked or taken down), I am posting it here.  I don’t have time at the moment to translate the whole thing but I translated the most important bits on twitter.

An offender is arrested, confirming police inspector Bjørn Erik Sem-Jacobsen said in a statement.

It is unknown who the culprits are and what kind of background he has.

The police suspect that there are explosives on AUF camp at Utøya. Defence bomb team is on its way.

An eyewitness told NRK that there must be at least 20-30 killed the bugs.Several messages in other media and social media suggests a similar extent.At the same time there are at least seven dead after bomb attack in Oslo.Police said ten people so far confirmed dead. Oslo police said they suspect the same man is behind both attacks. The reason is that they have witnessed information about a man in police uniform in a brown van outside the high-rise. Run for your life Grethe Helen Larre and Kristine Melby was in a cottage on the mainland, about 300 meters from Utøya when the shooting started. They told the AP that they initially thought the youngsters had a shooting competition when the horst shots and so many of the youngsters come running down the beach. Only when they saw the boat that usually carries people to and from the island left drifting they knew something was terribly wrong. Then they heard the desperate cry for help and saw several young people in bathing suits that hid in the bushes. The two women embraced several of them eventually came to safety on the mainland.
