Hot! Circular Firing Squad on the right

First I want to explain where I am coming from.   I am a combination of both conservative and libertarian thought.  And really I am not taking sides or anything in the ridiculous display of lunacy.   I understand both sides, and take parts of both sides as my own.   Call me a Conservatarian.

Let’s get down to the brass tax.   The infighting that has permeated the right this election season is beyond the pale.   The amount of vitriol and utter classlessness of some that disagree goes well beyond just disagreements.   We all agree that the Far Left is the enemy, but have been turning on us with wreckless abandonment.

We are all for less government , maybe not all at the same level , but we want the government to be smaller and respect the Constitution.   For far too long both Conservatives and Libertarians have fell asleep at the wheel.   We are at this point because we did not keep an eye on what is going on in DC, and many of the capitals around the country.

A majority of those on the right are also Foreign Policy Hawks, I am one.   But some also want to have a more isolationist (non intervertionalist) mentality.    This is maybe one of the hardest for the Conservative and Libertarian side to find common ground.  But there is.   We all want the country safe and sound.   Majority of us want to get out of being the world police, and only get involved in countries that are a threat to us.   I agree with this.   But we also cannot leave the world alone and isolate ourselves.   We need to be there for our allies and our nationalist interests.     We may have to agree to disagree with much of this.   But that should not make us enemies.

Another big disagreement is on social issues.   I am a Catholic that is pro-life and agree with much of what those that call themselves Social Conservatives want,  but in many ways, I disagree with the methods.   On this I am more on the Libertarian side.

ON gay marriage, I think the GOV should get out of the marriage business all together.    The GOV should just make sure contracts are upheld and leave marriage to the various churches, mosques , temples or what have you.   If some Liberal church wants to have gay marriage, so be it.   Just do not make the church I go to perform gay marriage.  I think it goes against the laws of nature.   But that also does not mean I am against gays living together and having a loving relationship.  That is up to them.

Abortion is another testy issue for the divide between Conservatives and Libertarians.     Conservatives would love to see abortion banned all together, but some Libertarians do not think the GOV should ban abortion.   As I said I am pro-life and would love for there to be the day where there is no abortions.  It is an abomination IMO.   But I do not think that this is a Federal issue, well unless Roe vs Wade is overturned.  Until then it is a moot point.  But if it is ever overturned, it should go back to the states and local jurisdictions.

Again on most of these issues we can agree to disagree.   We may not agree 100% with each other, we never will.   The only person I agree 100% with is me.   But we have enough that we do agree with to be allies against a bigger foe.

The Far Left and Socialists should be our enemy.   Yes we may disagree with each other on various issues.  But we sure as hell disagree with the Far Left on a majority of issues.

Obama has been the farthest to the left of any president we have ever had.   He is trying to turn us into a European Socialist state.    Neither Conservatives or Libertarians want this.  We have seen what happened in Greece, Spain, and many other European countries.

With all that said, we must be realists.  I know some of you may think that the Republicans are too far to the left.   In many ways I also agree.   They have left the reservation.   But in 2010 we saw that we can make a change.   And we have dragged them farther to the pathway of fiscal sanity.   Are we there yet????   NO    But you are not going to change the GOP overnight, much less the country with just 1 election or even 3 or 4.   This is going to take a long time.

I would hope all of you would vote for Mitt Romney.   I know many of you do not like him, either do I really.   He was my 3 or 4 choice.   But we need to look at the reality of what we are against, and also what is the path to what we want.   Romney may not be the greatest Conservative to live, but he is a Hell of a lot better than the alternative.  For those who are still thinking about voting for Johnson, a write in , or any other candidate, my friend Duane has a great post of what is the best path.

I know many of you will disagree and will vote for Johnson out of principle.  But look at that graph, you will be throwing you vote away.   But in the long run, it will probably not matter.   But I am looking at the bigger picture.   I am looking to defeat the Far Left unconditionally.

But if you do vote for Johnson or anyone other than Mittens, I am not going to berate you.   That does not work and will only make the divide on the right bigger.   I am doing this to make you think.   This election is more than 1 man, there are many other factors that go into the presidency other than the man himself.   The various bureaucrats that infest the hallways of DC and the Supreme Court Justices.   Then we have the Czars, who are un-confirmed power brokers.

Just remember what Andrew Breitbart said at CPAC this year:

GO ahead and vote for who you want, but just think about the big picture and the long war we are in against the Far Left.
